Since the pandemic created the general shutdown, we have been focusing our efforts on helping Larkspur respond to these unusual times.
• Small Business Fund To keep our business community and its hundreds of workers from becoming economic victims of the pandemic we made a $10,000 matching challenge grant to kick off the Small Business Emergency Fund organized by the Larkspur Chamber of Commerce. $51,000 was raised and grants were disbursed to 33 business owners. All funds raised went directly to small business merchants who applied for assistance. Larkspur Community Foundation was recognized by the City and the Chamber of Commerce for getting this early response off the ground. This is the largest grant we have made to date.
• Childcare for Essential Workers We are supporting programs at the local public schools with grants to help fund childcare for essential workers and establish learning hubs for families in need.
• Emergency Preparedness We continue to support Neighborhood Response Groups or NRGs. These neighborhood volunteer groups are preparing our community to cope with emergencies, especially important as fire threats worsen. We are serving as fiscal sponsor for several NRGs so they can accept tax-deductible donations and our Disaster Preparedness Fund is providing grants for specific disaster preparedness projects. • Non-Profit Support For the Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery the pandemic created unanticipated needs for remote access while clients were sheltering at home. Our grant helped them successfully develop their remote services.
