Larkspur volunteers will be honored Feb. 13 at the fifth annual “Heart of LARKSPUR” celebration of volunteer efforts in that community. The event will be hosted jointly by the Larkspur Community Foundation and the City of Larkspur in historic downtown Larkspur.
Special emphasis at this year’s event will be on volunteers who are involved in emergency preparedness.
The 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. celebration at the American Legion Hall, 500 Magnolia Ave., will honor more than 100 volunteers whose work through local nonprofits, boards and city commissions contributes significantly to the Larkspur community. Volunteers serving Larkspur are invited to attend.
Sandy Blauvelt, president of the Larkspur Community Foundation, and Larkspur Mayor Catherine Way will co-chair the event.
“Citizen volunteers are incredibly important to our community’s well-being, as are the city employees responsible for helping make the city function,” said LCF president Sandy Blauvelt. “Our annual celebration enables the Foundation and the city to recognize and thank those who contribute so much to Larkspur.”
Refreshments from downtown Larkspur’s Farm House Local will be served. Door prizes donated by Larkspur stores and restaurants will be distributed at the informal affair which enables volunteers to have a good time and get to meet each other and city officials and staff attending the celebration.
The mission of the Larkspur Community Foundation, founded by citizen volunteers in 2013, encourages volunteerism and civic participation.
